The lovenest is the inspiration for the concept of THE NESTING PROJECT. This project is my ode to David and Sharon, and the teachings of Jivamukti Yoga School. It’s a convergence of community, creativity, and activism. It’s a great magic trick to motivate people to be inspired and to be active and activate!
The ingredients are: using creativity to actualize a concept, by embarking on the journey of creating, not only will the individual be transformed as they discover their nest, but also, the concept will manifest in the group, and together we direct energy to build actual nests, or homes, for those who need them. It’s a beautiful shamanic ritual of transformation that happens for the individual and in turn, inspires the group, and ripples out to make a difference in the lives of others.
materials: love poems, found lovebirds, antique paintings of krishna, radha, lucky cardinal bird, and asian style ink brush painting, prema
May the owner of this nest find the delicious nectar of prema overflow always from within. Yoga is the divine union enacted by the love play of these two gods poetic discourse.
Much in the way birds find materials to make nests, all materials are recycled, found objects, who’s original intention has been re-invented to build a homes for wild birds and for people.
All proceeds raised from this project go towards Habitat for Humanity in Sri Lanka and the NYC Audubon to preserve the homes of wild birds in the five boroughs.
May The Nesting Project be a place where all of our birds can come to nest.

“Breast Nest, a celebration of life”
A nest to connect cancer to the healing power of yoga which includes over $500 worth of gift certificates/items!
In 2004, Dara was involved in a conversation about young women with breast cancer. That transitioned from donating a ”Record Pop Top” to an art auction to an event planning dream come true!
Dara planned, executed and succeeded in envisioning Geralyn Lucas’ event “Courage Night” by creating a party for Geralyn and Dara’s idol of 20+ years, the fashion designer and breast cancer survivor, Betsey Johnson. Over 200 people attended the Courage Night party at Betsey Johnson’s Flagship SOHO store, including Betsey herself.
Since then, Dara has used her art as a way to educate young women about breast cancer. Although no longer making Record Pop Tops, the conversation is still one she continues to have as is the case of “Breast Nest, A Celebration of Life”. Loading with “Wellness Goodies” inside her nest, the intention is to raise awareness. A tribute to my life coach and Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, Jo Sawalha’s (“Hook”) friend May, Breast Nest, a Celebration of Life “is about the courage and celebration of May’s survivorship.
Dara currently lives in Hoboken, NJ, spends her time looking for “The One”, works as a Claims Manager at Global Coverage and trains as a life coach with The HANDEL GROUP.”
This beautiful diorama nest recreates a mini-world, a little window in time with a special little being in the act of building a home.

SPECIAL THANKS TO MARK FOR CREATING SUCH AMAZING WORK FOR THE NESTING PROJECT TO LIVE!
Emma Gray’s nest was created in moment of realization that my former home (and nest) in NYC, is also a place that carries some sadness due to the events of 9/11. What can be more nest like than millions of people crammed on top of each other in thousands of high rise apts? The twin towers were the ultimate nests, so high, that they often swayed and dissappeared into the clouds. My collage is an attempt to heal that memory and bring a little hope. Bear in mind I created on the heels of a Yankees victory and the Jay Z and Alicia Keys anthem, titled “Empire State of mind”!!!
Emma Gray is an artist and curator from Los Angeles.
